What is Quartersawn Oak?
Quarter Sawn White Oak has become a very popular wood used in producing today’s fine furniture. Because quarter sawn wood has the saw cuts across the growth ring, the grain is much straighter and has subtle wavy ribbon-like patterns.

Quarter sawing means cutting at a 90 degree angle from the growth rings on a log to produce vertical and uniform pattern grain. Because this process takes more time and labor than producing plain sawn lumber, furniture produced from quarter sawn lumber is often more expensive. Because of the sawing technique, furniture produced form quarter sawn is more resistant to warping and shrinkage.
